Visiting with Your Dog

Is your dog joining you on your visit to Goderich? Here are some resources especially for our four-legged friends.

Dog Friendly Beach: St Christophers beach is dog friendly. Dogs must stay on leash even when in the water and must be picked up after by their owners. Dogs are permitted on the boardwalk as long as they remain on leash.

Dog Parks/Runs: Goderich has two great spots to let your dog run free. The dog park is located at 323 Warren St. and is open year-round from dawn to dusk. It has two fully fenced areas with natural surfaces. Parking, pet water, and dog waste bags are available free of charge.

There is also a dog run along the waterfront at the south end of Rotary Cove. Dogs are allowed off leash in the marked area as long as they stay under their owner’s control. Access to the lake is available at the far south end of the run if you are looking for a place where your pup can swim.

Dog Water Stations: The courthouse square has a special water fountain just for dogs! It is located on the west side of the park and is operated by a simple push of a button. The fountain is turned off in the winter months but is operational throughout the warm summer season. Additionally, many stores around town provide water bowl outside their businesses.

Dog Waste Bags: Forgot your poo bags? No problem! Many parks in Goderich offer free dog waste bags. Look for the dispensers attached the light poles and dispose of bags in public litter bins.

Pet Wash: Need to clean your dog off after a long day of fun on the trail or at the beach? Goderich has a self-service dog wash for your convenience. Located at 308 Huron Road, and open 7 days a week. Contact them for hours and pricing: 1 519-955-2503

Dog Friendly Businesses: Goderich business owners are dog lovers too! Don’t be afraid to ask if your dog can join you inside as you shop, or on the patio as you dine. A list of dog friendly businesses is coming soon.

Dog Friendly Accommodations: A limited number of accommodations in Goderich allow pets to stay with guests. Reach out to the location or host for their most up to date policies and availability.
